I need some with an older Verizon phone, the lg env 3. Lol yes, I know this an old ass phone, but i'm not crazy about the touch screen phones and until these older phones are completely wiped out and everyone has to use a touch screen phone, I'd rather not use them. But anyway, I have Verizon and I was using the Samsung gusto 3 which is a pretty good phone except at those random times when it wouldn't stop vibrating when I'd receive text messages. Other than that I like that phone it's very detailed when it comes to reading texts and even when it comes to navigating inside the menues. But anyway, someone recently gave me an lg env 3. I activated it because I remember how well the lg env 2 worked, so I thought I'd have pretty good success with the lg env 3. I've never had the lg env 3 before, not even when it first came out I had the lg env 2 though. I managed with some help from someone sighted to get the lg env 3 to read the different menues, but once I pressed ok to see what was in those menues, it would stop talking. I also managed to get it to tell me who was calling and who sent me a text message. I went in to settings and tools, phone settings, voice commands, mode, and made sure the phone was set to read out plus alerts, but it still will not read what's in the menues. For example, I wanted to put my contacts in the phone, but once I got in the contacts menue and pressed ok on new contact, the phone stopped talking to me so I couldn't put a contact in. I've tried to speak to the reps at Verizon, but they absolutely acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. Also, I just recently found an older board post on this phone and got some great info from it, so i'll put that practice, but the only thing I got from it was how to be able to read the text messages. Unfortunately, I live in a small town and there are no longer any Verizon stores in close range that are open, so I can't take it to a store, so I had to talk to the no English speaking customer service reps by phone. Can anyone give me some tips about how to get the lg env 3 to talk once I get inside the basic menues? I think i'm just missing something about the voice commands on this phone or something. If no one has any tips about this, it's ok i'll just go back to my Samsung gust 3 if I can't get this worked out. I thank you all.
I had this phone years ago, and if I remember correctly, it does not talk past the most basic menus. I couldn't do anything beyond what you're describing, because yes, when you press ok to go into the more detailed menus, speech will stop. If it can talk past that point, no one was ever able to get mine to do it, either, and I lived in Denver Colorado with plenty of Verizon stores.
Have you looked into the Samsung Haven? That's an old phone too, but if you're determined to stay with those older models, that might be another possibility if you could track one down.
I had both the 2 and the 3. I didn't like the 3 and what you are describing was just how it was.
I sent my 3 back and got the iPhone 4S.
I want to add, I had the braille manual, so could do all it could do, but somethings just didn't speak.
The haven has been discontinued.
I thank you all. I have the Samsung gusto 3 and that's what I think i'm going to stick with. I remember having the env 2, and it had a lot more speech features than the env 3 does that's really sad. But it's ok it's all good. No harm no foul. I'm having better luck with the Samsung gusto 3 anyway.
Yeah Lakeria, I knew the Haven had been discontinued,which is why I said the OP would have to track one down. I honestly thought the enV3 had been discontinued, too. I was surprised when I saw this pot, because I didn't think they were being made anymore.
It isn't new I guess.

No I don't think the phone is new. A friend of mine purchased it off amazon and gave it to me. I think someone was selling it through amazon. I don't even think Verizon sells those phones anymore.
